Eruption Boxing has evolved to Eruption Boxing Management in 2021 – so what does the future hold?

Ringside Boxing News last caught up with Gwen back in 2019, covering the success of her career in sporting apparel and the start of Eruption’s crossover to management.

Having previously worked with many fighters including major names such as Cris Cyborg, Evander Holyfield, Rob McCullough and Reggie Johnson within the apparel business, Eruption Boxing have enabled themselves to work with the next generation of professional boxers within a management capacity.

Speaking with Gwen during 2021 once more, Eruption Boxing has evolved yet again, with Eruption Boxing Management being the main subject of discussion.

“I’ve worked with boxers from all over the world as a Co-ordinator, dealing with professionals of all levels and it’s given me a great deal of insight into managing a professional boxer. Eruption Boxing  are looking for boxers on the verge of breaking through to world level – genuine contenders that are ready to make that step up – and our aim is to be working with boxers of that profile, all over the world.”

Looking back on a progressive 2021, Eruption Boxing have made their moves.

Having recently signed former Australian middleweight champion Tej "Tejmania " Pratap Singh (16-5-3)  and Puerto Rican toughman Javier "El Chino" Flores (15-3), Gwen Legge is moving Eruption Boxing towards new managerial goals that have been laid out by the company throughout the year.

“I know how important that relationship is with a fighter, building a good rapport and understanding the needs of a fighter is something we do well, that’s why we believe Eruption Boxing Management is the best place for a hungry, ambitious, world-level fighter, who wants to go all the way. Eruption Boxing are looking to be working with serious professionals who want to push on at world level - which is why I'm delighted to be working with both Tej and Javier as we look forward to making even more signings in the New Year.”

With major brands such as Dazn, Matchroom and Top Rank finding success with boxing on a global scale, Gwen Legge and Eruption Boxing Management have set goals that look to emulate the same success, and building a strong roster is key in achieving those goals.

Having taken on two professional boxers that fit the bill, Gwen Legge continues to look for new talent to join Eruption Boxing Management.

“We’ve had talks with some very skillful, highly motivated fighters that know what they want, and we will continue to talk to more and more boxers with the same outlook and ability. Many right here in America, some in England, and others throughout Europe. I’m confident we can deliver any professional the management they need to achieve greatness."

With both Singh and Flores looking to fight in the first quarter of 2022, new arrivals will continue to be a common theme in the new year, as it has been throughout 2021. A new roster ready for a new year has also been matched with a new team to guide it.

Joining Gwen at Eruption Boxing's newly formed Executive Board, industry titans Jackie Kallen and Rick Glaser complete a formidable team.

Famed as boxing's first lady, Jackie Kallen guided the legendary James Toney to three world titles during an incredible management career that earned her the reputation of being the most successful female manager of all time.

Gwen told Ringside Boxing News back in 2019 that Jackie Kallen is someone that she looks up to and has since starting working as a Guest Co-ordinator on Jackie's podcast, Between The Ropes. The pair seem to work well together which has led to quite a spectacular addition for Eruption Boxing.

Now in his fourth decade in the boxing industry, matchmaker and consultant Rick Glaser completes the Eruption Boxing team. From taking Brian La Spada to a world title shot, to working as Don King's chief matchmaker, to putting together Roberto Duran's fight with Tony Biglan and the vast amount of know how and work rate in between, Rick's reputation and ability in the industry is a key asset to Eruption Boxing.

To have both Jackie and Rick on the Executive Board shows a significant sense of ambition and has helped to inject a vast amount of boxing industry and managerial experience to the table.

Gwen Legge is planning more media appearances for both herself and her fighters and as the year ends, it's safe to say that it's been a successful year all round.
