On November 9, boxing fans worldwide will turn their attention to Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center as two of the sport’s brightest pound-for-pound stars take center stage. Hometown hero Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and reigning world super-flyweight champion Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez headline a stacked card, with both fighters defending their titles live on DAZN.

Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs), who captivated the Philadelphia crowd in July with a dominant performance over David Avanesyan, will be making his second defense of the IBF welterweight title. That night, Ennis fought in his hometown for the first time since 2018, recording the largest attendance for a boxing event in Philadelphia in over four decades.

The 27-year-old welterweight sensation has been vocal about his desire to unify the division, but first, he must handle business against mandatory challenger Karen Chukhadzhian (24-2, 13 KOs). Chukhadzhian, from Ukraine, previously faced Ennis in Washington in January 2023 but has since bounced back with notable victories over Pietro Rossetti and Harry Scarff, securing his shot at Ennis’ IBF crown.

“I’m excited to be back headlining in my city again,” said Ennis. “It’s time to continue dominating the division, make a big statement, and show everyone why I’m the best welterweight in the world.”

Chukhadzhian is eager to upset the hometown favorite. “Champ, get ready for the battle – it’s going to be hot!” he warned, promising fans a thrilling showdown on November 9.

The night’s co-main event features Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez (20-0, 13 KOs) defending his WBC and Ring Magazine super-flyweight titles against Mexico’s Pedro Guevara (42-4-1, 22 KOs). Rodriguez, fresh off a career-defining knockout win over Juan Francisco Estrada in June, has climbed into the top five of Ring Magazine’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Rodriguez, who’s aiming for a third consecutive knockout, will face a battle-hardened Guevara. The former WBC light-flyweight champion earned his shot at Rodriguez’s belts with an impressive victory over Andrew Maloney in Australia, and now, the 35-year-old seeks to become a two-weight world champion.

“My belts aren’t going anywhere!” declared Rodriguez, as he looks to solidify his superstar status. Guevara, meanwhile, vowed to bring a “war” to Philadelphia, saying, “I’m going with everything and for everything. Viva Mexico!”

Promoter Eddie Hearn has promised an unforgettable night of boxing, with more big names to be added to the card. “Boots’ return to Philly in July was spectacular, and Bam’s win over Estrada will be one of the year’s best performances. This is a treat for Philly’s great fight fans.”

As the countdown begins, November 9 is shaping up to be a night full of fireworks, with two of boxing’s top talents looking to defend their titles and solidify their legacies.
