Queensberry Promotions has announced a significant partnership with BoxWise Foundation, a charity dedicated to helping vulnerable young people through boxing. As part of this collaboration, Frank Warren will become the first Chairman of the BoxWise Foundation Development Board, with Queensberry committing £1 million to support the charity’s mission.
Queensberry’s Commitment to BoxWise
BoxWise Foundation has received a substantial boost as Queensberry Promotions pledges £1 million to further its efforts in transforming young lives. This generous donation is being matched by BoxWise Founder Nick Maughan and incoming development board member Chris Kilvington, who are each contributing an additional £1 million.
Speaking ahead of his visit to a BoxWise session on July 23 in Islington, the borough where he grew up, Frank Warren reflected on the impact of boxing on his life:
“Boxing has given me everything – friends, a business, and happiness – but most of all, something to wake up in the morning for, a real sense of purpose and belonging. I remember growing up here on the streets of North London; it was really tough, and life could have easily been different for me. That’s why I am delighted that Queensberry is supporting BoxWise and proud to become the first Chairman of the BoxWise Foundation Development Board.”
About BoxWise: Transforming Lives Through Boxing
Founded in 2020 by Nick Maughan CBE and Rick Ogden MBE, BoxWise delivers 10-week non-contact boxing programs designed to support the most disadvantaged and vulnerable young people across the UK. The charity’s mission is to reduce gang violence and knife crime by offering young people an alternative path through sport, community engagement, and opportunities for personal growth.
BoxWise sessions are led by accredited England Boxing coaches and provide a safe space for young people to focus on their mental and physical health. Participants build community ties, gain confidence, and lay the foundation for a successful future. Each session also includes a free hot meal, and graduates are offered pathways to further education or employment.
Impact and Future Aspirations
BoxWise Director and Co-Founder Rick Ogden MBE expressed his gratitude for the support:
“We are delighted to welcome Queensberry and are so grateful for their support. At BoxWise, we help those vulnerable to becoming victims and perpetrators of knife crime onto a positive way forward in life through their engagement with the sport. Our work with the Centre for Social Justice reveals that sport interventions have been found to reduce offending by 52%, significantly cutting violent crime. We work closely with the police, community organizations, and youth authorities to improve young lives and positively impact society.”
Participant Testimonial: A Life Transformed by Boxing
Jack (not his real name for anonymity) shared his experience with BoxWise:
“Now boxing is my number one priority; it’s my whole life. In the last six months, I haven’t missed a single day’s training. Boxing has completely taken over my life, for the better. I’m so much more confident. I stopped smoking, drinking, and partying because of boxing. Everything just seems clearer in my mind. I love boxing… I came from having anger issues, so BoxWise was very good for my mental health as it provides a different outlet for my anger. After a session in the gym, I feel more relaxed mentally – it allows me to put my thoughts in order.”
This powerful testimonial highlights the life-changing impact of BoxWise’s programs, reinforcing the importance of continued support and investment in the charity.
