The fight fans dared to dream is now official: Saul “Canelo” Álvarez will defend his undisputed super middleweight crown against the undefeated Terence “Bud” Crawford on Saturday, September 13 in Las Vegas, live globally on Netflix.
Yes, you read that right—Canelo vs. Crawford, live from Vegas, streaming to Netflix’s 300+ million subscribers at no extra charge.
The historic announcement was delivered by His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and architect of the Riyadh Season boxing revolution. The event will be promoted in partnership with UFC president Dana White and event powerhouse Sela—marking Netflix’s most ambitious leap into live sports yet.
“Two legends of boxing will finally compete in the fight of the century,” said Alalshikh. “We will deliver something truly incredible for fans around the world.”
Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KOs), boxing’s modern icon and four-division world champ, returns to defend his 168-pound dominance against Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), the unbeaten maestro who became the first male fighter in the four-belt era to become undisputed in two weight classes.
Crawford, who conquered Errol Spence Jr. in a one-sided masterclass last July, now jumps two weight classes to face the Mexican superstar in what could be the most significant fight of this era.
“My perfect record speaks for itself,” said Crawford. “No matter the opponent or weight class, I’ve always come out on top. September 13, I’ll do it again.”
