At the age of 26, Shakur Stevenson has already established himself as a two-weight world champion and is on his way to becoming a rising superstar in the world of boxing. Despite his efforts to secure a fight against undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney, Stevenson has set his sights on reclaiming one of his previous titles.

According to an official press release from Top Rank, Shakur Stevenson is scheduled to compete for the vacant WBC lightweight title against Edwin De Los Santos. Promoter Bob Arum has confirmed that the bout will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on November 16, just before the Formula 1’s inaugural race in the area. The fight will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States.

Meanwhile, Devin Haney will hold the title of “champion in recess” as he faces Regis Prograis for the WBC super lightweight title on December 9.

Stevenson, who won a silver medal in the 2016 Olympics in Rio, clinched the WBO featherweight title by defeating Joet Gonzalez in 2019. Two years later, the quick-fisted southpaw dethroned Jamel Herring to become the WBO super featherweight champion. He later defeated Oscar Valdez to claim the WBC and Ring belts but was subsequently stripped of these titles due to a failure to make weight in a bout against Robson Conceicao.

In his most recent fight, Stevenson made a successful lightweight debut by defeating Shuichiro Yoshino. He is now eager to take on the top contenders in the lightweight division, which has seen the likes of Haney, Gervonta Davis, Vasiliy Lomachenko, and Ryan Garcia.

Stevenson expressed his confidence in facing Edwin De Los Santos, saying, “Edwin De Los Santos is a good fighter, and he’s ready to put up a fight. I commend him for accepting this challenge when so many other so-called ‘fighters’ backed away. I am the biggest challenge in boxing, and on November 16, the world will witness why when I deliver another outstanding performance for the fans. Join us at the T-Mobile Arena or tune in to ESPN to watch me become a three-division world champion.”

Edwin De Los Santos turned professional in 2018, and despite an unbeaten streak, he faced his first loss against William Foster III in January 2022. De Los Santos has since bounced back with a three-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory being a unanimous decision win over Joseph Adorno in July. De Los Santos steps in to face Stevenson after Frank Martin declined the bout following a review of the fight contract.

De Los Santos expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “I want to thank Top Rank, the WBC, ESPN, and my promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, for this chance to have an exciting fight and win my first world championship. I am a proud Dominican warrior fighting for my people! Shakira, I’m coming for you.”

In the co-main event, Emanuel Navarrete will defend his WBO super featherweight title against Robson Conceicao. Navarrete, a former super bantamweight and featherweight champion, claimed the vacant WBO title by defeating Liam Wilson in February and successfully defended it against Oscar Valdez in August.

Conceicao, on the other hand, will be fighting for super featherweight gold for the third time, having previously faced Valdez for the WBC title in 2021 and Stevenson in 2022 for the WBC and WBO titles.
