Experienced crusierweight Tony Conquest beleives the Ultimate Boxxer format is the perfect opportunity at this point in his career.
Speaking to British Boxing, Conquest said: -
"I was just waiting to see what was coming up...but nothing was really happening... my trainer Peter Simms phoned and said about this (Ultimate Boxxer IV) and I jumped at the chance. It's a GREAT format to jump straight on."
When asked about his age and how the shorter round format could suit him better, Conquest went on to say:-
"On Sunday I'm 35 and there's not a lot of opportunities... And the last opportunity I had was in Italy, which was a bit of a short notice fight... (a 7th Round KO defeat to Fabio Turchi), and this came up, and you've got to grab what you can when you can! I haven't got any time to waste, I can't much about, I'm near the end, let's be honest, I'm 35! I've got to do what I can do whilst I'm still here."
That mindset has helped Conquest throughout a career that has seen him win the Southern Area and Commonwealth Crusierweight titles with notable fights against Wadi Camacho, Ovil McKenzie and Daniel Amman.
Conquest has drawn the youngest competitior in the tournament, 21 year old Rhasian Earlington (5-0 1 KO).
" To be perfectly honest, I don't know much about him. he's big, he's young, he fresh, he's hungry. Anyone who enters this tournament, you have to give them the upmost respect, because you're going in there blind. You've got to be on the ball and I'm not underestimating anyone."
Ultimate Boxxer 4 takes place at Planet Ice, Altrincham on 19/07 - live on BT Sports, Boxnation and Youtube.
