Alphonso Lopez (30-3 24KOs) fights Alex Theran (21-3 14 KOs) this evening in the main event in Houston, Texas. With the vacant WBO NABA Heavyweight title up for grabs, Lopez plans to challenge for the WBO light heavyweight title as soon as possible.
Speaking with Boxing TV’s Dan Hewitt recently, the 37 year old Huntsvile boxer said:
“Yarde and Kovalev are both dangerous guys. But I’m driven by elite competition. It’s what boils my blood. I’m ready!”
Aiming for the best the WBO has to offer, Lopez must come through tonight’s challenge and has no plans to look past tough competitor Theret – but with eight straight victories coming in to tonight’s WBO sanctioned bout, the confidence to compete at the highest level is clearly evident.
