Las Vegas, brace yourself. On Saturday, May 31, the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay turns into a super middleweight war zone as Caleb Plant and Jermall Charlo co-headline an electric doubleheader on PBC Championship Boxing, live on Prime Video.

Two of boxing’s most vocal and explosive stars will headline separate fights—but the tension between them hints that this might be more than just business as usual. As both look for dominant wins, the real prize may be a future grudge match between the two.

The broadcast kicks off at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, streaming exclusively for Prime members in the U.S. and select countries. If you’re not subscribed yet, you can start a free 30-day trial to catch all the action—because this is one card you won’t want to miss.

🥊 CALEB PLANT VS. ARMANDO RESÉNDIZ

Caleb Plant (23-2, 14 KOs) has made a career out of silencing doubters—and occasionally, opponents—often with one clean shot. The former IBF super middleweight champion and current Interim WBA titlist defends that belt for the first time against Mexico’s Armando Reséndiz (15-2, 11 KOs), a dangerous puncher with knockout power and a chip on his shoulder.

Plant’s resume speaks volumes: a title win over Jose Uzcategui, a viral one-punch KO of Anthony Dirrell, and a gutsy comeback win over Trevor McCumby last September. His only defeats? To Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez—two of the toughest names in the division.

“No setback and no amount of money can change my hunger,” said Plant. “On May 31, I’m coming to remind the world who I am.”

For his part, Reséndiz is no walkover. The 26-year-old from Nayarit, Mexico stopped Jarrett Hurd in March 2023 and rebounded from a loss to Elijah Garcia with a fifth-round TKO over Fernando Paliza earlier this year. He’s young, hungry, and dangerous.

“I’m preparing to win this fight for myself and for all of Mexico,” Reséndiz said. “This is my moment.”

🥊 JERMALL CHARLO VS. THOMAS “CORNFLAKE” LaMANNA

The co-main is just as intriguing. After ruling at both 154 and 160 pounds, Jermall Charlo (33-0, 22 KOs) makes his super middleweight debut against gritty veteran Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna (39-5-1, 18 KOs) in a 10-round showdown.

Charlo hasn’t fought since defeating Jose Benavidez Jr. in late 2023 but says he’s more focused than ever:

“I rebuilt myself, I’m back, and it’s time to show the world,” said the undefeated former champ.

With wins over names like Julian Williams, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, and Cornelius Bundrage, Charlo has proven he belongs at the top. But LaManna is no pushover. Riding a nine-fight win streak, the New Jersey native is hungry for a breakout moment.

“A win here changes my life,” LaManna said. “I’ve worked my whole career for a shot like this.”

Why It Matters

This card is more than just two big-name fights—it’s the setup for something bigger. Plant and Charlo have history—verbal jabs, almost physical ones—and a clear tension that could explode into a headlining feud later this year.

If both men win impressively, fans may finally get the grudge match they’ve been waiting for.

Final Bell: Stakes Are High in Vegas

Whether it’s the finesse of Plant, the firepower of Reséndiz, the pedigree of Charlo, or the grit of LaManna, May 31 promises high drama, heavy punches, and serious implications for the 168-pound division.

If you’re a boxing fan, Prime Video on May 31 is non-negotiable viewing.
