He’s already knocked out the amateur scene—now, Delicious Orie is taking on a whole new kind of challenge outside the ring. Ahead of his much-anticipated professional debut, the British Olympian has been named an ambassador for the BoxWise Foundation, a boxing-led charity helping vulnerable young people across the UK.
And if the name BoxWise rings a bell, that’s because it’s one of British boxing’s standout good-news stories—proving that throwing punches can also throw open doors to better futures.
Boxing with a Purpose
Founded in 2020 by Nick Maughan CBE and Rick Ogden MBE, BoxWise delivers 10-week non-contact boxing courses to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Their goal? To keep kids out of trouble, in education or work, and surrounded by a positive, safe community.
We’re talking real impact here: over 1,500 young people supported every year, coached by England Boxing-accredited trainers, and offered free hot meals, mental health support, and career pathways once the gloves come off.
Frank Warren, promoter extraordinaire, serves as Chairman of the BoxWise Foundation Development Board, which should tell you how seriously the boxing world is taking this initiative.
Enter Delicious Orie
Orie, 27, joins BoxWise with the perfect mix of pedigree and passion. Born in Moscow and raised in Wolverhampton, he burst onto the scene with gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, a bronze at the European Championships, and another gold at the 2023 European Games, which punched his ticket to the Paris Olympics.
Though his Olympic campaign was cut short by a narrow split-decision loss to Armenia’s Davit Chaloyan, Orie now turns pro with serious momentum—and a serious message.
“I am thrilled to be an ambassador for such a great concept as BoxWise,” Orie said. “Boxing gyms provide an environment that fosters discipline, respect and inclusion… I’m looking forward to doing my part to inspire young people to maximise their potential.”
Heavy Hands, Heavy Impact
Orie makes his professional debut April 5 at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena, on the aptly named ‘Heavy Impact’ card. He joins the ranks of recent British Olympic heavyweights like Anthony Joshua, Joe Joyce, and Frazer Clarke—each of whom made waves in their early pro outings.
But Orie’s already setting himself apart by focusing on life beyond the ropes. Whether it’s showing up to BoxWise events, participating in classes, or spreading the word via social media, he’s not just boxing for belts—he’s boxing for better lives.
BoxWise Welcomes a Knockout Addition
“Delicious epitomises the BoxWise programme,” said co-founder Rick Ogden. “He’s living proof of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”
And honestly, who better? With his mix of athleticism, humility, and heart, Orie might just be one of the most well-rounded prospects in British boxing today.
As BoxWise continues its mission to reduce gang violence, knife crime, and youth isolation, adding a champion like Orie to the team is a title-winning move.
Final Bell: Orie’s Just Getting Started
There’s a buzz around Delicious Orie—and rightly so. His fists may win fights, but it’s his drive outside the ring that could inspire a new generation of champions, both in and out of the gym.
So keep your eyes on April 5—but keep your heart with what comes after. Because when boxing lifts people up, everyone wins.
