Lawrence Okolie, the WBO cruiserweight champion, is set to face Chris Billam-Smith on May 27 at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth. The fight will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Okolie and Billam-Smith trained together previously at Shane McGuigan’s gym. Okolie, who is now working with new trainer SugarHill Steward, will be defending his world title in Billam-Smith’s home town. Billam-Smith is determined to become a world champion in front of his fans, saying “On May 27 I will repay them by winning a world title”. Okolie dominated his last opponent, David Light, in a successful defence of his title last month. Despite having little time to recover, Okolie is eager for the challenge and said, “I’m pumped, I’m ready to go”.
