The undercard for the heavyweight blockbuster between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois is starting to take shape — and it’s delivering serious firepower.
Two featured bouts have now been confirmed ahead of the July 19 clash at Wembley Stadium, and they bring title implications, international intrigue, and championship pedigree.
⚖️ Okolie vs. Lerena: WBC Silver Title on the Line
Two-weight world champion Lawrence Okolie continues his heavyweight campaign by defending his WBC Silver title against former IBO cruiserweight world champion Kevin Lerena of South Africa.
Okolie (21-1, 14 KOs) claimed the WBC Silver belt with a first-round demolition of Hussein Muhamed last December. The Rio 2016 Olympian and former WBO cruiserweight world champion previously unified British, Commonwealth, and European honors before briefly dominating the bridgerweight division.
Now campaigning full-time at heavyweight, Okolie faces a proven and dangerous challenger in Lerena (31-3, 15 KOs), who made his name at cruiserweight with six successful world title defences before moving up. Lerena nearly shocked the world when he dropped Daniel Dubois in their December 2022 showdown in London — before Dubois rallied to win. Most recently, Lerena bounced back with a third-round stoppage of Serhiy Radchenko in Pretoria.
🔥 Edmondson vs. Lapin: Unbeaten Light Heavyweights Collide
British and Commonwealth light heavyweight king Lewis Edmondson will face the toughest test of his career when he squares off against unbeaten Ukrainian Daniel Lapin in a high-stakes international showdown.
The bout will see Lapin’s WBA Continental and IBF Intercontinental titles up for grabs.
Edmondson (11-0, 3 KOs) captured national attention when he upset Dan Azeez to claim British and Commonwealth honours in just his 10th pro fight. He followed that with a dominant decision over the undefeated Oluwatosin Kejawa earlier this year.
Lapin (11-0, 4 KOs), a key member of Team Usyk, is a slick southpaw who’s been steadily climbing the global ranks. The 27-year-old picked up the IBO Continental belt in 2023, stopped Octavio Pudivitr in the first round to win the WBA Continental crown, and added the IBF Intercontinental strap with a decision over Dylan Colin.
